-- source: Darla Shop, HMV Japan :: Beikoku Ongaku Volume 21: Beikoku Ongaku (Japan) English/Japanese bilingual. If you see some Japanese fashion magazine, then you'll guess Londoner in nowadays is just pretending NYC's yuppies or something. But we know London isn't just like that!! --that was our first hook why we wanted to do this special feature. Don't you remember?--we all love the city of London. Youth culture comes from London was always our role model. The mixes of POP MUSIC/FASHION/DESIGN, and sometimes it's highly political. The culture sometimes include radical ideas, and it moved not only European but also American or Japanese kids who are seeking for radical lifestyles. UK youth culture is the source for everyone who's looking for the supreme idea & bravery.... at least, until the early 90s. When we've started to think that London is getting "boring" in some way? That was the time when snob restaurants are getting "IN" in London? That was the time when WallPaper magazine got quite successful? The stupid Ferris wheel was built near the Thames river? That was the time when trivial movie "Notting Hill" got a big hit???? We know "the new century's street culture" has began to developed in London. And, we, Beikoku Ongaku made the special issue of London and Londoners. Music, Fashion, and design--the boundary between them, that's our strong point. We focus on "people" and "pieces of works", and want you to know about the "real" London nowadays. You could see something special in our magazine that you'll never found in Japanese fashion magazine... You'll definitely could find the real London Culture Scene's moves! The contents of the issue: **Special feature; LONDON IS BORING?** Cover and the opening article of the issue is LONDON. For creators and misfits' eyes only... We went to there to collect "London's street culture" that you can't see from the rotten Ferris wheel or "Brigit Jones's diary"! *Special #1; FERGADELIC + JO REYNOLDS. The cover art is the collaboration of two artists, JO REYNOLS X FERGADELIC. Jo is active as a model and musician, and was a guitarist in Les Rythmes Digitales. Fergus J. Percell a.k.a. Fergadelic has his own label "Tonite", his collaboration artwork with UK based brand Silas and Maria with which he became famous, and his work as an illustrator, designer and a rock'n'roller. He was the ex. member of BETA band, also. The cool tattooed man had done the body painting on Jo's body for this issue's cover! You can enjoy both of them's interviews and works on the large scale! *Special #2; SILAS & MARIA We interviewed to London's famous street brand Silas and Maria's related creators and friends. The questionnaire includes "the present condition of London", "personal top spot" and music from U.K. etc.. Plus... The new label worthy of notice! Fergus' handwriting "my London record map" and much more! *Special #3; PPQ Hip fashon stylists' favorite UK clothing label PPQ is also running the record label... do you know that? World premier big feature! *the Diary of EMILY THE STRANGE To accord with our London special feature (?), Emily the Strange costar with the legendary London punk band, the Damned! We exclusively feature the artwork that filled up with the punk spirit! *100 discs of FORCE OF NATURE The special attraction of Beikoku Ongaku magazine "2000 discs of 20th Century" welcomed out 7th guest. (this is totally free.... can you believe it?!) http://www.darla.com/ :: Joyce Revered Brazilian singer/songwriter Joyce releases her new Farout album 'Just A Little Bit Crazy' and sees the release of a collection of her duets with Brazilian artists, 'Bossa Duets'. Joyce is one of the most popular and influential Brazilian musicians especially in UK and Japan. She has released more than twenty studio albums in her thirty-plus year career. Her music covers traditional Brazilian music such as Bossa Nova and MPB as well as jazz and dance music, which earned her rare status as Bossa Nova-singing club diva. June sees the release of her new studio and live material from Farout and Sony Music entertainment, respectively. Far Out will, on June 16, release Joyce's third album from the label and her 24th overall, 'Just A Little Bit Crazy'. While retaining her trademark fusion of Bossa Nova, Samba and various kinds of music, the album sees the artist teaming up with Norwegian jazz pianist Bugge Wesseltoft to explore new contemporary Brazilian music. The album was recorded with her back band Banda Maluca (Crazy Band) comprised of Wesseltoft, Brazilian percussionist Robertinho Silva and her husband and Brazilian drummer Tutty Moreno. At the same time, Joyce will be celebrated by Sony Music Entertainment with 'Bossa Duets', a compilation of her duets with pioneering Bossa Nova artists such as Joao Donato, Johnny Alf, Wanda Sa and Toninho Horta. The 11 tracks were culled from her previous Japan tours for the set, to be exclusively issued in Japan. http://www.hmv.co.jp/news/newsDetail.asp?newsnum=306100043&category=0&genre=0&style=0&pagenum=1-- The Eclectic Sounds of Japan [Sound :: Lounge] http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SoundLounge
