---- ADDRESS FOR MUSICAL SUBMISSIONS To jump right to the mailing address for musical submissions, please scroll toward the bottom of this circular for more information. ---- NEWS Gonna be on the lightweight side of things this week. Due to some technical difficulties beyond my control, no new show up for this past week. The Urban Landscapes Profile featuring Omoa Music recording artist Ayro will be rescheduled at a later date. THE HALFWAY REWIND SPECIAL 2003 is working its way toward the halfway mark, so this is the time of the year where I take a look back and narrow things down to my most recommended picks from 2003 so far. Be sure to tune in tonight as I focus on the albums, while on June 27 I'll focus on the 12" singles & EPs. GONKYBURG SPECIAL Swell Sessions...Ernestos...Quant...Jol...Plej. What do these artists have in common? Well if you've been keeping your ears open during the last couple of years, you know that they are all located in Gothenburg, Sweden. They, along with some others, make up the very talented Gonkyburg crew. I'll have a feature on the city, the music, and--of course--the artists. You'll hear interviews from several of them, recorded during my European trip earlier this year. Of course, you'll also get to listen to some of their music as well. As for the airdate, it will either be July 4 or July 11, depending on whether or not I'll leave town for the holiday weekend. I will keep you posted on the exact date. MUSIC REVIEWS I have some new slabs of music during the last two weeks, and I'll have reviews of them toward the end of the month. Soon, I will also post all of the 2003 Music Reviews on the Urban Landscapes web site. I will let you know when the items are online. ECLECTIC GROOVES & SOUL INVASION Yes, yes...we're gonna do the deed once again! First, we're doing a second dose of Eclectic Grooves. This is our mix-up of good music...downtempo, rare grooves, soulful house, broken beat, and maybe a few other slices of eclecticism to move your body and soul. DJs on the decks: Velanche (Urban Landscapes) DJ Calyx (KCPR's "WEFUNK" & "Let Us Play") Jennifer (KCPR's "Global Grooves") The Eclectic Grooves event will take place on Saturday July 26 at zPie. This is an 18+, no-cover event. More details are forthcoming. Also returning to zPie will be our soul/funk night "Soul Invasion." It's our night of rare funk & grooves, and we hope that you'll groove with us. DJs on the decks: Malik Miko (KCBX's "Night Train") Velanche (Urban Landscapes) DJ Calyx (KCPR's "WEFUNK" & "Let Us Play") We're invading on Saturday August 16. More details coming soon, along with a couple of additional summer dates. ---- VELANCHE'S SOUNDSCAPES FOR JUNE 2003 -Joseph Malik--Remixed 2 EP 12" (Compost/Germany) -Clyde featuring Capital A--Serve It Up 12"(Mantis white) -Amp Fiddler--Love & War EP (Genuine/UK) -Various Artists--Moving Forward EP (Switchstance/Germany) -The First Floor Brothers--Fashionably Late/Signal 106 12" (Citrona) -The Rebirth--This Journey In 12" (Kajmere) -Daniel Magg--O-Bah/Set For Seizure Remixes 12" (Compost/Germany) -Stateless--The Art of No State (Ubiquity) -Pest--Necessary Measures (Ninja Tune) -Kaidi & Dego--Got Me Puzzled 12" (2020 Black/UK) -Red Astaire--Follow Me/The Wildstyle 12" (GAMM/Sweden) -P'Taah--The Oldest Story--Swag Vocal Mix (Ubiquity CD-R) -Kaskade--It's You, It's Me Remixes 12" (Om white) -Madlib--Shades of Blue EP 12" (Blue Note) -Micatone--Is You Is (Sonar Kollektiv) -Rednose Distrikt--Gotta Make A Move 12" (Kindred Spirits/The Netherlands) -Rima--This World Remixes 12" (Compost/Germany) -I:Cube--Vacuum Jackers EP (Versatile/France) -Fertile Ground--Remixes (Counterpoint CD-R/UK) -Mitchell & Dewbury--Rapping With The Gods (Mumo/UK) -Various Artists--Ecosystem: The Brazilian Joint (Unity/Liquid Sky) -J.
