the massive name dropping of cover tunes brought to my attention an
interesting thought -
so many of the acid-jazz era hits, were actually remakes of rare-groove,
jazz-funk originals.
Acid-Jazz was mainly a retro things-
recreating the sounds of (a certain element in) the70s with early 90s
perspective
Thing is, electro-clash is doing a similar thing today -
recreating the sounds of (a certain element in) the 80s with a current
perspective, and indeed, many of the current hits of the scene are remakes
of 80s tracks.
Just a thought...
