This story was sent in by a lurker...

I suppose that Clear Channel has a right to take a stand on the war.
However give their almost monopolistic dominance over today';s radio industry, I think that
it also says quite a bit about what their agenda for controlling the information that we are
going to be allowed to recieve.
During the 1930's, Adolf Hitler understood the power that radio has to be used as a mechanism
for "mind control" tactics that are at the heart of FASCISM.
Obviously the people who run Clear Channel have learned the lessons of history well...

Why should we care?
(cuz Clear Channel OWNS most of the KNEE-GRO radio stations in the United States)

If you don't think that it's important that we keep stations like...

WHNR 1360 AM in Winter Haven Florida

on the air as thriving INDEPENDENT broadcasters.
(then guess again!)

Here's a media company that is on the war story in more ways than one,
according to the Chicago Tribune
<http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0303190157mar19,1,1909646.story?coll=chi%
2Dnewsnationworld%2Dhed>:

"Some of the biggest rallies this month have endorsed President Bush's
strategy against Saddam Hussein, and the common thread linking most of
them is Clear Channel Worldwide Inc., the nation's largest owner of
radio stations.

"In a move that has raised eyebrows in some legal and journalistic
circles, Clear Channel radio stations in Atlanta, Cleveland, San
Antonio, Cincinnati and other cities have sponsored rallies attended by
up to 20,000 people. The events have served as a loud rebuttal to the
more numerous but generally smaller anti-war rallies.

"The sponsorship of large rallies by Clear Channel stations is unique
among major media companies, which have confined their activities in the
war debate to reporting and occasionally commenting on the news."
