STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

You know I've had some impressive CDR books come through Stylin and Open
Sesame. Well mine eyes have now seen the glory of Mitsuru Ogawa's CDR book.
It's like gazing into a crystal ball of the future of music. Thankfully we
can all hear some of this glory at Honkytonks tonight, where Mitsuru will be
playing. Mitsuru is one of the people responsible for Dance Music Record in
Japan being one of the best stores in the world for new release jazz beats.
He spins regularly at legendary Tokyo venues like Loop and The Room
alongside the likes of Kyoto Jazz Massive, Patrick Forge, Jazzanova, Rainer
Truby and lots of other Stylin-friendly peeps. His set for last week's show
was a fantastic blend of music from Japanese artists and labels, but tonight
will be the whole-world perspective. Hope to see you there.

Trainspotters' Corner was back last week. It's funny how you can think you
know a record but then when someone samples it you don't even notice. Well I
played Stevie's incredible "Do I Do" recently from start to finish, 10
minutes of soaring vocals, Dizzy's trumpet, various breakdowns, even
Stevie's proto-rap. Finally, at the end Stevie breaks it down to just the
drums. Sounds like the beat from a recent fave, Georg Levin's "In Your Car".
People that have been with Stylin for a while may remember Georg's "When I'm
With You" in the Best of 2001. Well Georg has again come correct with
another boogie-flavoured tune, this time with a slightly darker edge. His
album "Can't Hold Back" is out soon on Sonar Kollektiv and includes both of
these tunes and lots of newies in a relaxed soul mode.

Meanwhile this week's Stylin features a new mix from former guest Space
Clique, this time under the guise of Ben Mono.

    until then
