EAST COAST CONVENTION

HERE IS THE TENTATIVE AGENDA FOR 2004:
Yes that's right, he 2004 Soul-Patrol East Coast Convention is going to be a two day event this year.
We have secured the use of a fantastic multi purpose facility, the Kennedy Center in Willingboro, NJ (right outside of Philadelphia)
Friday Evening Program: (6p-1am): Film Festival Students: Free
* 6pm - 1am: Check In/Registration (table in lobby or cafeteria)
* 6pm - 1am Lite Refreshments available (cafeteria)
* 7pm - 1am Film Festival (Light Jazz or DJ during intermissions) (auditorium)
* 7pm - 1am CD's, Pictures, Books, Etc. By Invited Artists Available To The Public
Saturday Daytime Program: Interactive panel discussions, presentations and Q/A Students: Free
* 11:00 am - 5:30 pm: six 45 min interactive presentations/panel discussions led by various artists, journalists, broadcasters (Potential Topics: Empowerment, Via Technology, Black Music History, Future of Black Music)
* 11:00 am - 5:30 pm: Four 20 min Live music interludes Featuring well known and unknown artists
* CD's, Pictures, Books, Etc. By Invited Artists Available To The Public
Saturday Evening Program: Past and Present Legends of Black Music Awards Ceremony/Caberet
7:30pm - 9pm Past and Present Legends of Black Music Awards Ceremony (Auditorium):
* Presentation of Awards
7:30pm - 1am Open Cabaret (Cafeteria):
* Renown NYC, Chicago, Philly and DC Disc Jockeys spinning Classic Soul, Funk, Blues, Slow Jams, Black Rock, Disco and Nu Soul
* Surprise performances
* Soul Music History Trivia Contest w/prizes
* Soul Food Platters & Set Ups Will Be Available
* CD's, Pictures, Books, Etc. By Soul-Patrol Artists Available
For those of you out there who have expressed concern that we might be turning the Soul-Patrol East Coast Convention into a clone of the Essence Music Festival or the old Jack The Rapper Conventions, fear not.
In fact we are going in the opposite direction.
We will be partnering with the Willingboro Township Board, Local Board of Education's and community based organizations in the S.Jersey/Philly area to expose as many younger people as possible to the various people, events and information we will have over the course of the two days.
Two key topics will be paramount at the 2004 Soul-Patrol East Coast Convention:
1. The intersection of music/technology and what it means for the future.
2. Preserving and extending the historical legacy of Black music/culture.
(but don't worry, we will still have a good time also....lol)
As such, in addition to music vendors who are interested in sponsorship opportunities, we are specifically looking for technology and education vendors to sponsor the convention.
If anyone is interested in being a sponsor, speaker, vendor, volunteering your time/skills, etc, just hit me back via email.
