My half-baked theory has been that the people who originally energized the list
with postings are now the ones making music, throwing parties, writing articles,
running websites and generally being too busy to have an opinion on anything.
Maybe it's just me, but it also feels like there is an ever-so-subtle strain of
put your money where your mouth is. It's good to be active and busy, but I know
from being stressed to the point of hiding under the covers when I should be
doing this and planning that, that it's important to remember that sometimes
just appreciating is enough.
So I'll contribute...Right now, some of the things that I think are just
wonderful (notice this is not a top 10 or a tracklist) are the Beanfield full
length which is so so pretty in an understated zen kind of way, the Blue Note
Revisited...I'm totally FLOORED by some pieces on there... and although it's
not hot off the presses, the Inverse Cinematics Shoot the Pianist/Shot the
Pianist single is stuck in my head, and not just the sample that goes "And we'll
see you all in PHILADELPHIA!" Anyone know what that's referring to? I thought
maybe it was a speech made before the Republican National Convention in 2000?
That was the last huge politial event that I know of that went down specifically
in Philly.
I am also appreciating a gorgeous day in my back yard on a hammock with a
laptop, being pleasantly distracted by squirrels and tulips. This is truly the
only way to compute.
