STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)
Hello all
It's been a long time coming, but at last Nik Weston is bringing his fresh
and heavy record box from London to Melbourne. Sometimes known as "Nippon
Nik" for his regular Japan visits and fetish for collecting Japanese
releases, Nik has been responsible for many compilations including Music &
Movement, Moshi Moshi and the Jazztronik collection Inner Flight. Nik plays
regularly around the planet alongside cats like DJ Cam, Peanut Butter Wolf,
Patrick Forge, Phil Asher, Talvin Singh, Marlena Shaw and Pharoah Sanders.
Just like we heard in Nik's excellent Japan set on last week's show, his
eclectic sets combine jazz, funk 45's, boogie, hip hop and nu jazz/bossa.
Check him out tomorrow night for Open Sesame at Honkytonks. He's got a
couple of excellent internet radio shows too ...
