It warms my heart to see some many Groove Dis exclusives on your list :)
(Canton, Fort Knox Five, Fantastic Freeriding, Alison Crockett, and Perry
Hemus)--the check is in the mail.

As to Danger Mouse's "Grey Album" I agree with the Boston Globe article from
last week-basically, that's it incredibly creative and some of the tracks
worth really well. However some of the tracks don't work so well, I think
that's down to trying to fit every song into the tight creative framework. I
have to admit though I haven't seen some attention from the mainstream press
since the releease of "Best Bootl*gs Ever" mashup CD and the 2 Many DJs CD
    (now up to 13 volumes!).

I've enjoyed Zero 7's "Simple Things" album very much when it was first
released, even owning the vinyl. I hear the new one sounds very similar to
the first, so looking forward to hearing tunes from it.

Got the David Borsu EP in early January and he shows promise with his work.
I'm looking forward to his full-lengths coming this year from Wha?Roots and
    Counterpoint.

I'm very down with the Clara Hill album. I've read in some quarters that
some thought that it was trying to do too many things at once, but I've
thought that it was nice production that complimented Hill's talent. I
didn't bother to overanalyze it; I've just merely enjoyed it.

I agree with Dirk that Alison Crockett's long-player needs to find a bigger
home here and get picked up by a major. I have to say kudos to Simon and Dom
from Wah Wahs for giving her the break she needed. Also check out the 12"
with a dope Yam Who remix of "UR" and a fabulous tune on the flip called
"Alive" (a bit extended from the album version).

You'd do well to check out Canton's EP when it comes out on Citrona. It's
super funky and filled with attitude and spunk. It's the best EP I've heard
from the label and ups the ante. All of the tracks, including the Deela
    remix, go from strength-to-strength.

I know this came out awhile ago, but I've just received a copy last week of
Switchstance's "Fantastic Freeriding 2" compilation. I've found it superior
to the first one, and Tom from the label even went so far to say that the
album has less of an emphasis on the samples and more on the music. So cool
    deal for that!

I can go on and on with music that I feel will make 2004 a year to keep
watch. Quant has a great new album that should be out next week that takes
his Funkster sound wide; the Fort Knox Five's "The Brazilian Hipster" EP is
rocking my world (but check out the "Blowing Up The Barrio" one too); and
don't sleep on Perry Hemus's "Rhodesmode" full-length...it's the real deal.

I will have a bit more when the circular for my radio show comes out
    tomorrow...loads of reviews to come.

    What others are y'all feeling?

    Velanche

P.S.: I KNOW that some of you have this, but what's the scoop on the Danger
Mouse album that is no longer (legally, anyways) in circulation? What are
    your thoughts?
