this isn't a hip-hop site as far as I know, sure some people love that music
but its one of many genres that people love. I thought that what you had to
say was valid and worthwhile and you should not be put off because someone
was defensive about something they love. What you said did not read as an
attack by you on hip-hop but instead a considered approach to material that
is affecting on several levels and some of those are not entirely
appropriate for kids. Personally I don't think the people creating it are
thinking about kids listening to it and some of them ARE just kids.
Personally I applaud you in taking a protective tack with your children,
there is more than enough time for them to have to deal with the vagaries
and weirdness of the world. One day your kids will be listening to whatever
they want anyway and hopefully they will be guided by how you love music in
general, even if you don't care that much for hip-hop. This IS a great site
and I have really gotten a lot from it over the years myself although it has
been quieter for awhile. People here are also passionate about their music
and while I disagree sharply some times I have to say that I really, really
dig the passion that folks have for music.
