NEWS
I've made a little boo boo with my new numbering convention for the show. Since this is year seven, it should be 7.x and not 6.x. So as of this week's show, the shows will be designated as 7.x for the year 2004. Got it? Good...on we go!
The international edition of Urban Landscapes Radioshow 6.3 is now online, along with the playlist. You can find more information below.
THE URBAN LANDSCAPES GUESTMIX PRESENTS:
MEIERLANSKY'S SOUL REVIVAL MIX
Last week's broadcast dropped the first Urban Landscapes Guestmix of the year from Vienna's Madrid de los Austrias. In the same package were several other mixes, and one of them was a dope deep house mix that caught my ear. With the backlog of guestmixes on tap (and being that the guestmixes are slated to air every other week), I've decided to give up a week and drop the mix on this week's show.
Andi Meier, aka Meierlansky, is part of a collective of DJs and producers known as the Deep House Mafia (DHM). He also runs the Pep Sounds label; its focus, of course, being deep house sounds.
Check DHM's web site for more info at http://www.deephosuemafia.org. And visit http://www.pep-sounds.com to check out music on Pep Sounds.
CHECK IT
Don't forget to check out XLR8R Issue 74 (the "dancehall" issue) that's out now. Look for me as the Future Jazz Guest Reviewer for the issue.More music reviews are forthcoming in future issues.
Also, have a read of my interviews with Break Reform & the Al-Haca Soundsystem on the MundoVibes web site (http://www.mundovibes.com). The print edition of the zine should come out in March.
That's all for now. I've been very busy so reviews for January will have to wait until next week. Until then, have a good weekend and enjoy the music!
