    Ilya Rasskazov - Top 20 - 06.2004

a.. Intuit "Western Sunrise" (Toshio Matsuura remix) (Compost)
Intuit album is a bomb, best album of 2004 so far. Toshio delivers an astonishing remix of "Western Sunrise" making it even more dancefloor-friendly.

      a.. RSL "The Must"
The previous hit was played by nearly everyone: I wonder if top Moscow techno djs have a copy as well. For those who aren't satisfied with the original version and the Danny Krivit remix - a new instrumental remix of "Wesley Music" is on the b-side.

      a.. Sin Palabras "Yemaja" (Yoruba)
Osunlade is simply the best at mixing afrobeat with deep house and broken beats. Check the Soul Jazz Records catalogue for more:

a.. Joseph Malik "Dream Dancer" (Compost)
Another nuclear bomb from Compost. Joseph Malik and David Donelly continue walking their diverse path and come up with a new genre-breaking album. Grand Unified help recording this jazz-techno monster track.

a.. Jazzanova feat.Shaun Escoffery "Boom Clik Boom Claq" (Sonar Kollektiv)
Jazzanova teems up again with Shaun to make another broken-future-soul classic.

      a.. Ursula Rucker "This/Tempest" (!K7)
Hip-hop walks the green mile? I don't think so, as long as we have girls like Ursula.

a.. Alozade And Hollow Point feat. Mr.Vegas "Under My Sensi" (Soul Jazz)
One of the highlights from the last issue of Jamaican odyssey by Soul Jazz Records - the "600% Dynamite" compilation. Dancehall at it's best?

a.. Joe Dukie + Fitchie "This Room" (Best Seven)
Best Seven are perfect at mixing jazz with reggae & dub. Essential record, deep moods, bright vocals.

a.. Gotan Project "Triptico" (live in Japan version) (Ya Basta!)
One of the biggest hits of recent years performed live in Japan with special additional beats by Toshio Matsuura. Wish I could be there!

      a.. Amp Fiddler "Possibilities" (Geniune)
Great track from a great album "Waltz of a Ghetto Fly".

a.. Re:jazz "People Come Running" (Les Gammas Sprinter remix) (INFRACom!)
The whole "Re:jazz Remixed" is a must-have. Delicious reworks from Swell Session, Bugge Wesseltoft, Akufen, Jazztronik. But now we are enjoying Les Gammas' sprint best of all.

a.. Michael Bottchen "Moonlight guitar" (Shanti Roots & Scheibossan remix 1) (?)
Viennese people don't shoot at angels and they know what downtempo music is all about.

      a.. Dani Siciliano "Same" (!K7)
Herbert's alter-ego Dani Siciliano presented one of the most serious productions of last few months. Lot's of things to digest, really:

      a.. Deladap "Amaro Shavo" (N.O.H.A. remix) (Ecco.Chamber)
Like a perfect soundtrack from Emir Custurica movie.

      a.. Beanfield "Welcome" (feat.Marzenka) (Compost)
Dark & mysterious broken beats, so huge on the dancefloor:

a.. Beatfanatic "Electromagnetic Colours EP" (Raw Fusion)
    ánother delicious portion of beatfanatizm.

a.. Stereotyp meets Al Haca Soundsystem "Boss It" (Klein)
Two monsters' battle. Future dancehall. Love it.

      a.. Jazzinho "Camponesa" (K-Tado remix) (Ecco.Chamber)
I don't speak Portugese, but I think I understand everything when I'm dancing! Another great track from Jazzinho's debut album - a beautiful collaboration between Chris Frank and Guida de Palma. K-Tado who are a two dj-unit from Porto come with a nice broken remix. I guess it would be hard for Russian national team to play with these Portugese guys on Euro 2004:

a.. Nu Spirit Helsinki "Honest" (Jazzanova remix) (Sonar Kollektiv)
Nu Spirit meets Jazzanova. Do we need to say more?

      a.. Rimpstol "Crowds" (Auditory Design)
Very mellow and pretty experimental jazz-downtempo track from a young Danish label Auditory Design. Rumpistol provide a deep journey into sophisticated electronic beats and sounds with beautiful tenor sax solo. Innovative lounge music it is!

    Current Top 5 Albums

ž Joseph Malik "Aquarius Songs" (Compost)

Malik does it again! Brilliant album full of harmony and power. Pearls like "Aquarius Song", "Nebula" or "Dream Dancer" are incredible. And "Diablo" is probably the best song dedicated to a football team ever: Much respect.

ž John Beltran "In Full Colour" (Ubiquity)

Deepest mixture of most intelligent Detroit techno-beats and latin-fiesta sounds. "Rain In Shibuya" really knocked me out:

ž Intuit "Intuit - The Album" (Compost)

My soundtrack for the summer has arrived! Another monster album from Compost - new jazz spiced with brazilian beats, funk, soul and electronica. Thomas Braun and Till Maragnoli have invited great guests to record this outstanding LP. Essential:

ž Umod "Enter The Umod" (Sonar Kollektiv)

Our long-time favourite Dominic Stanton aka Domu goes downtempo. Funky grooves mixed up with sophisticated illbient beats. Dope stuff!

ž A Bossa Electrica "Eletrificao!" (Raw Fusion)

Soulful brazilian sounds, sounding so fresh and open. Sweden meets Rio!

Much respect to my people in Moscow & St.Petersburg, Alex & club Kult, Nik Weston, Tom Wieland, Lucia Possas, Cukipapa, Daniel Hantigk, Alex Barck, Stefan DSL, Scheibossan, Toshio Matsuura & Kaori, Zeljko Kerleta, KJM, the Compost crew, Jake Behnan, Nik Matthews and
everyone else i forgot to mention!
