For day #1 of our convention we have a SLAMMIN lineup of films covering some
of the many
musical styles of "Great Black Music From The Ancient To The Future". In
nearly all cases we
will also have the film's principle on hand to host each screening. We also
will be featuring
two live musical interludes from our good friends RIO SOUL and MARLON
SAUNDERS. In addition
our honored guests will also be on hand for you to meet/greet and will have
their CD's,
T-Shirts, posters, etc available to autograph for you.

Van McCoy was a musical genius, with over 700 music copyrights to his
credit, as writer or
co-writer. Much more than just the man who gave the Hustle to the world.
He was a prolific
composer, arranger, producer, pianist and singer in his short 39 years.
* (6:30p-7:15p) Soul Survivor-- Mighty Sam McClain (Hosted by Mighty Sam

The PBS documentary, "Soul Survivor--The Journey of Mighty Sam McClain",
hosted by the subject
of the documentary himself, Soul-Patrol's very own, WC Handy Award Nominated

60 minutes of NEVER BEFORE SEEN Sly (Sylvester Stewart) and the Family Stone
concert footage
and interviews from the 1960's. The Stewart family has made this material

EXCLUSIVELY to Soul-Patrol and will be on hand to answer questions about the
history/societal
impact of this groundbreaking artist and will host this showing!
* (8:45p-9:15p) Live Music Performance - Rio Soul
Fresh from a cross-country tour, with stops from New York to Pittsburgh to
Florida to Las
Vegas to Los Angeles! Check out a special live set of west coast FUNK as
they bring home some
of the choice cuts from their new CD called "THE CURE".
* (9:15p-10:30p) Only The Strong Survive: (Host Roger Friedman)
Staring: Jerry Butler, Chi-Lites, Rufus Thomas, Isaac Hayes, Sam Moore, Mary
Wilson, Carla
Thomas, Ann Peebles, and Wilson Pickett. Concert movie documentary,
released in 2003 &
directed by DA Pennebaker. Roger Freidman of FOX NEWS, the film's narrator
will be on hand to
introduce the film and to answer questions about it.
* (10:30p -11p) Live Music Performance - Marlon Saunders
Fresh from touring London, New York, Philly, Baltimore and LA. Soul-Patrol's
"best nu soul
artist of 2003" gives us a special LIVE performance of songs from his award
winning CD "ENTER
MY MIND" as well as some special interpretations of some classic songs.
* (11p -12m) Mandrill Live at Montreax: (Host Dr. Rick Wilson)
WORLD PREMIER of the brand new DVD, filmed two years ago at the world
famous, Montreaux Jazz
Festival. LIVE Concert and interviews from the legendary FUNK/WORLD MUSIC
band. Mandrill
founding member Dr. Ricardo Wilson will introduce the film and answer
questions about
Mandrill's past, present and future.
* (12m -1am) Afro-Punk: (Host Director James Spooner)
Explores race identity within the punk scene. This film tackles hard
questions like, issues of
loneliness, exile, inter-racial dating, duality people of color in a mostly
white community
and black power. Follows the lives of four people who have dedicated
themselves to the punk
rock lifestyle. Hosted LIVE by Afro Punk's award winning director Mr. James
Spooner.
