Hola,
Summer's over, fall is here and the record industry begins its
traditional bombardment of new albums that will take us through
November and the winter holidays. The good news is, there's a lot of
good music hitting the streets in the weeks to come and we'll do our
darndest to play as much of it as possible.
Tonight for instance, there are new CDs from Hird ("Moving On") -
elegant dance-pop from Scandinavia that picks up where the singles
left off.....Shur-I-kan ("Waypoints") - future jazz that's classy and
compelling....Fleckfume ("Ausland") - intensely delicate
electronica....Secret Frequency Crew ("Forest Of The Echo Downs") -
the blips, bleeps and trombones are weird & wonderful.....Young Jazz
Giants (S/T) - the would-be sons of John Coltrane beat and blow their
way through their debut disc with ferocity......Fila Brazillia
("Dicks") - their 10th album is predictably quirky and clever....and,
plenty more from Brooks, Moodymann, Sia, Q-Burns, Wagon Cookin' and
others. I hope you'll tune in.
Until next week, ciao for now,
David
