Greetings ! just a reminder that we have a special night tonight at Bembe and I
hope you can make it down... 'sgonna be good !
Tonight THURS JAN 6th
TOQUE with DJ BUSQUELO & Isabela
and special guest OCOTE SOUL SOUNDS' Martin Perna
The weekly TOQUE event takes a special twist on Thursday Jan 6th when guest
Martin Perna, of Antibalas and Ocote Soul Sounds, sits in on the session with a
bag of flutes and an ear for all things funky. With his busy touring schedule
this is a rare occasion to catch a performance from Ocote Soul Sounds. It is
also a much more intimate setting to catch him than at the sold-out Antibalas
performance at Globalfest on Saturday night.
at BEMBE : 81 S 6th St : corner of Berry
Williasburg , BKLYN
10 pm - 4 am .... FREE
L train to Bedford, JMZ to Marcy Ave
or, a quick cab-ride over the Williamsburg bridge
About the party:
On Thursday Nights, tucked away in a less-travelled pocket of Williamsburg, DJ
Busquelo dives into his vinyl stash for the finest old school salsa, afrocuban
jazz, latin funk, and broken-beat
latin fusions. Add to that the fierce percussion of Isabela and party is
ablaze with sun-drenched vibes and swinging hips.

finally :
if you want to help with Tsunami Relief efforts but want to make sure your
hard-earned money is going into the right hands, here are a couple of
resources:
a) www.h20bali.com - a drinking-water company run by some friends in Bali who
are also very involved in music are organizing massive shipments of drinking
water to Aceh. You can make a Paypal donation on their website to help with
that effort.
b) http://samarmagazine.org/tsunami/
The good folks at SAMAR have compiled a list of non-partisan relief
organizations in South Asia who do not fold their own political/religious
agenda into their efforts for helping Tsunami victims...
peace !
Stay Tuned !
