Greetings,
Harry D. is off to the Midwest for a few weeks, so I'll be sitting in
for him tonight and also in two weeks' time. This means two hours of
jazz, blues and soul, followed by the beats, rhythm and sounds that
you dig the most.
There's plenty of new music bizness to share, including new jams from
Kirk Degiorgio's As One project (Elegant Systems}, outstanding new
work from Recloose (Hiatus On The Horizon), Bah Samba, Roisin Murphy,
Beat Pharmacy (Earthly Delights) and Ry Cooder (Chavez Ravine). We've
got quirky beats from Nobody, moody electronic soundscapes from both
Monolake and Solarium, classic jazz from Marlena Shaw, Roland Kirk,
Bobby Hutcherson and Grant Green and just-released discs from Erik
Truffaz, Joe Lovano, Bill Connors, Earl Thomas and the Chicago Blues
Reunion tour.
The ticket counter will be open with passes for this weekend's
Russian River Jazz Fest, Miguel Zenon at Yoshi's and a double bill of
Joshua Redman's Elastic Band and Nicholas Payton's Sonic Trance at
the Great American Music Hall.
Please join me for four hours of the good stuff, beginning at 8pm PST!
Ciao for now,
David
