Greetings,
Before I pitch face-forward into my keyboard, I want to mention a few
items on tonight's musical agenda, specifically, the excellent new
album from the Flowriders that I liken to a cross between Spacek and
Fertile Ground. It's got plenty of soul and that occasional icy edge
that sets it apart from so many others....there's a new David Sylvian
remix album, featuring the tinkering of such folks as Burnt Friedman,
Yoshihiro Hanno, Ryoji Ikeda and Readymade FC, all of whom draw from
a palate that's both subtle and sensitive. We have a new Erik Truffaz
disc, Flunk's re-work of the Kinks' "All Day & All Of The Night," the
new single from Delgui, featuring Colonel Red, remixed by Gerd and
the Stereo Twins and some classic Coltrane to help kick off the
SFJazz Spring season. There will most likely be tickets for this
weekend's shows, so you local folk will want to tune in for sure.
That's (yawn) it for the moment....until next week - ciao for now,
David
