Greetings,
The SFJazz season is in full swing and last weekend's shows by
Solomon Burke and the SFJazz Collective were both outstanding.
Tonight we'll have tickets for the legendary Ahmad Jamal, performing
Friday night at the Herbst Theater and much more in weeks to come.
Musically, there is plenty to crow about: new albums from Pianoramax
(nice piano and keys work from Leo Tardin) and Joshua Redman's
Elastic Band (Momentum), dope beats from Mushroom Jazz 5, beautiful
new work from both Bluprint and Tom Tyler, a stunning new album from
the mighty Jaga Jazzist and some equally mind-blowing jazz from
Japan's Soil & "Pimp" Sessions' debut release, fab EPs and singles
from Recloose, Skalpel, Quantic, Sandboy, Fertile Ground, Flow
Dynamics, Mawglee, Mathlon Stewart and Zap Mama remixed by Seiji!! Of
course we have barely begun to "scratch" the surface of Verve Remixed
3, Future Sound of Jazz 10 and Break 'n' Bossa 7....what's a guy to
do?
Tune in tonight and see.....
Until we meet again....ciao for now,
David
