Mark,
Thanks for the kind words. It's definitely a struggle these days being a
vinyl/CD dance distributor, especially with the small niche we do, but we're
trying to pick things up. We haven't done any outreach to our mail order
customers since that old Straight No Chaser ad that featured you, Nina Price
and Ray Velasquez, so with the new website (finally with a shopping cart!)
we are trying to reach out...especially with there being less and less
stores for people to buy from (if you'd rather buy from a local store we do
have a list of stores that buy from us on a regular basis listed on the
site).
As to your requests/suggestions. We did have the list linked for a
while...in fact I didn't realize it wasn't there until I just checked, but
we are trying to improve the list and put it back up. The list isn't
hyperlinked to the items as of now, so we want to get a list done that has
the hyperlinks to each item so when you read the list if you like something
you just click on it and you go straight to the item on the website.
Hopefully that will done soon and then 1) the list everyone gets emailed
will be like that, 2) there will be a link on the main page to it. The
listening post we did away with since almost everything now has sound
samples. Soon it will resurface in the form of featured albums...then it
will be almost exactly like the old one, except a little more selective
(look for it under "Dirk's Featured Albums" or something like that).
If anyone else has any suggestions, comments about the site and how to make
it better and more useful please feel free to email me (off the list if you
want). We are also actively looking to promote the site and set up affilate
programs, banner ad exchanges, and the like. Anyone interested in that
please contact me as well.
When we first opened 7 years ago I was very active on this list letting
people know what came in and what we were carrying, after a while I stopped
and I felt a bit awkward starting up again...I still do. So if you want to
know what's being imported into the US every week in the nu
jazz/downtempo/broken beat world please look at our site
(http://www.groovedis.com) as messages like the one sent earlier this week
(sent by one of our staff) will NOT be a regularly thing (so no need to
complain about me "spamming" if you were about to...).
Lastly, anyone who does an order this week (until Friday) can take 10% off
their order by using the coupon acidjazz (no other discounts apply so
current VIP members this doesn't apply to you). You must order via the
website, the coupon is not good for phone, email or walk-in orders.

Yes, that's www.groovedis.com, right? ;-)
I'd also like to give the GrooveDis crew a public "pat on the back" since
these days, it seems like a distributor is going belly-up on us just about
every other week. Guys, thanks for keeping the choice tunes flowing here in
the U.S., week in and week out! And congratulations on your new website.
I'm kinda missing a couple of things from your old website, though: the
"Listening Post", which was nice to browse through, and the link to your
weekly new release list. Sometimes I don't get the emailed version, and in
those instances it's nice to be able to go grab it online. Any chance of
either of these features re-appearing?
