Born in Zimbabwe and raised and educated in London,
vocalist, performer, songwriter, musician and
producer Eska Mtungwazi (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=tmwcctbab.0.ct6uctbab.bfgut7n6.1199&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.myspace.com%2Feskamtungwaz) is in a
category of her own. She transcends musical genres
and pushes boundaries in a style that can only be
compared to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Donny
Hathaway, Roberta Flack, Prince, Norah Jones and
Carole King. With a voice drenched in roots and
folk, the diva effortlessly glides between
progressive jazz, hip-hop, soul and dance music,
with classic piano-penned songs that blend the rich
vocal depth of modern day soul, r’n’b
and gospel, to
the accompaniment of incredible jazz musicianship
and a backdrop of worldly rhythms.
Eska is highly respected amongst her musical peers
worldwide, and is widely recognised as one of the
most talented British soul / jazz artists of our
time (already tipped as “the new queen of UK
soul”).
Her previous catalogue of recorded collaborations
and live performances include diverse range of
artists such as Damon Albarn, mastermind of
the internationally acclaimed Gorillaz, legendary
British jazz musician Courtney Pine and the
prestigious British Mercury Music Prize nominees;
rapper Ty and jazz / hip-hop saxophonist
Soweto Kinch. Her most recent recording
collaborations are with internationally leading
Break Beat DJs The Stanton Warriors, Broken
Beat founder IG Culture and Cinematic
Orchestra.
The anticipation surrounding a record release from
this artist is emphasised by the wealth of support
she has received from both tastemaker DJs such as
Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio 1), Benji B (BBC 1Xtra),
Ras Kwame (BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra), Barry King (Solar

The Rebirth has been in existence for the past 8
years emphasizing the return of the family soul
