A fine and little intimate club in the new student quarter Prenzlauer Berg,
the former home of the 'outsiders' of the German Democratic Republic (DDR):
Down to the street a nice bar with a neighborhood- atmosphere. For dancing
you have to climb upstairs to a small floor that feels like the living room
of your secret dreams.
The music ranges from jazz via house to easy listening and there's always
room for experiments. Dig the mellow jazz trips of DJ Barcoholic (now
Saturdays).
Oxymoron
A new club that is somehow related to Acid Jazz type music has opened
about a year ago, it's called Oxymoron. The address is Rosenthaler Str.
40/41, Hackesche Hoefe, Hof 1 in the Mitte district.
I (Martin) went there only once so far, to an excellent label presentation of
Compost Records with
Michael Reinboth, Rainer Trueby and Fauna Flash. Jazzanova also dj's
there.
Savignyplatz (and the whole area around the square)
Extremely nice "art" places - all well designed and with an attitude.
Tons of nice cafees, bars and restaurants. Especially, try the italian
place just outside the entrance to S-Bahn Savignyplatz.
