It's a pub with a dancefloor in the cellar. The dancefloor is on a former 'Kegelbahn' (I think the english word is skittle-alley, some kind of german bowling).
The Soundgarden is a very big, old factory building with a capacity of 2.500 people. There are two main discos with techno, indie and Grunge, a Club with Acid-Jazz and Soul, and a room called "Waschkueche" with Jungle, Hip Hop and Ragga. Prices are low and the people are mixed from dirty old punks to "It's so hip to dance to jazz .."-girlies.
Since now I haven't been there, because it is a hardrock location usually. The capacity is 500 people.
Location: Ritterhausstr. 65 (Kreuzviertel), Tel.: 0231-162127, Dortmund (City) entrancefee: the entrance to Dancefloar-Jazz is free, to the live-acts depending on the groups.
The Jatz is a small pub-like location with capacity for only 150 people. The walls are covered with old jazz-goodies like Miles, Louis and so on. At saturdays the age of the audience is 25 and more.
A "Brasserie" in the north (the multicultural heart) of Dortmund. Normally a restfull place to take a coffee or a brunch. At special days the tables are pushed and a DJ plays best Acid-Jazz tunes. Those days are published on flyers and at special locations in Dortmund, watch out.
