My latest reviews and ramblings pt II

All the recent talk about Smash reminded me to mention that I went out,
like the mindless consumer that I am, and bought his "Jumbo Pack" on
New Breed. Sure, sure, it's just the Fat&Jazzy series continuously
mixed, but it ain't no waste of money. We're talking the best 18
tracks here! So if you don't have the Fat&Jazzies yet, grab this one
for a taste. And even tho I had em already, I suspect they're gonna
get a lot less individual play 'round my pad now - this mix is right on
the mark for listening. Aw damn, you guys in FL are in for a treat
when he comes to town.

And on multiple recommendations I parted with much of my hard earned
cash and picked up "Back 2 Mono" on Wall of Sound. An amazing album!
Not surprising given the success of the Give 'Em Enough Dope series, of
course, and if you like those I'm sure you'll get a kick outta this one
too. The same heavy hip hop sampling style, this time with a slight
retro to it, and a relatively diverse sampling of tracks, from Mekon to
Akasha (go figger, you can find them both on "Enough Dope" too!) But
the outstanding tracks are from groups you won't find on either Dope album.

So a big thanks to Exotique Imports in Seattle for having "Mono" in
when I went lookin'. I hadn't made it by this place (managed by
Seattle's DJ Masa) in a long time and they're definitely up on their AJ
- check 'em out. Beyond the Ambient/Dance/AJ/etc stuff, they've got
CDs + vinyl of all sorts from rock to disco to new wave to rap, AND,
the ever-popular cheapo bin!

One thing I didn't pick up is the Funky Porcini full length on
NinjaTune - any one got any opinions?
