The term Jungle

This may or may not help.

The term jungle was first used as a short version of the phrase "concrete
jungle." Much of the music made in the ardkore/breakbeat stage of the
music had began to exhibit a harsh, raw sound that was seen to be
reflective of the urban experince. I don't belive that there wer any
racial implications at the time. However, many of the creators that
pushed the music into the more cohesive Jungle period (currently revised
as drum n bass, hardstep,etc.) are black and I could see were the use of
the term might seem a bit suspect.
