Maybe someone in Japan can confirm this but "The Boom" is generally a pop
oriented group. They/he scored a big hit last year with "Shima Uta" ("Island
Song") and though I haven't heard any international influence on their music,
they have incorporated traditional Japanese and Okinawan musics before. Of
course, maybe there's another "The Boom"......

I just got a promo CD in the mail from Sony Japan by "The Boom." This
one's called "Far East Samba," and besides the Brazillian influences, also
throws in Afro-Caribbean, Indian tablas and Raggamuffin, all in a very high
energy uptempo production. And that's just in the first 3 songs (still
listening to it).
