smooth hip-hop-jazz-soul-funk celebrating the new Herbaliser release Very
Mercenary, from the groundbreaking label, NINJA TUNE.

The Herbaliser: also known as Jake Wherry and DJ Ollie Teeba, The Herbaliser
will land in Los Angeles for their first ever performance with a live
8-piece band, thus expanding & elevating DJ culture with an eye towards
giving the audience more bang for it’s buck.

Roots Manuva: South London-bred MC, Roots Manuva’s Jamaican-with-a-London
twist delivery expertly conveys his melodic brand of dub/hip-hop, echoing
influences of Sly & Robbie and Lee Scratch Perry. To quote Roots Manuva
himself, “dub is the foundation for all dance music; hip-hop, drum ‘n’ bass,
house, electro..”

Djs: turntablist wizard J-Rocc represents L.A.’s World Famous Beat Junkies
crew and Ritual DJ Dusk ties the evening together with his vast knowledge
and collection reflecting hip-hop’s history and future.

reknowned A FOREST MIGHTY BLACK) and his project Truby Trio boasts remixes
from Frederick Galliana, Bobby Matos, and Extended Spirit, and has also been
remixed by Peter Kruder of Kruder & Dorfmeister. Truby’s club, Rootdown in
freiburg, Germany, crosses the boundaries between retro and futurejazz,
funky beats, jazzy house, brazilian, boogie tunes, and drum’n’ bass.
