Just got the latest Ninjatune sampler,
here's the tracklisting, culled mainly
from recently released or soon-to-be
released albums:

DJ Vadim/Moshun Man- The Terrorist
The Cinematic Orchestra- Channel 1 Suite
Mr. Scruff- Get a Move On
The Herbaliser/Latyrx- 8 Point Agenda (We Believe)
Cabbageboy- Hey Hey We're the Monks
Dynamic Syncopation- Ground Zero
New Flesh For Old- Eye of the Hurricane
Flanger- Full On Scientist
Animals on Wheels- Never In and Never Out

I don't know what it is but I rarely like
anything that Ninjatune puts out, it's too
innocuous, the beats are interesting but
are too static and don't challenge at all.

The Cinematic Orchestra (J. Swinscoe is
familiar to most of us) turns in a nice moody
cut, with a very live sound, which is good, since
I think it's mostly live! If you wish your
Labradford CDs would be a little more lively
and jazzy, this might fit the bill.

Of course the Latyrx track (by Herbaliser) is
the highlight of the album, and their amazing
vocals put the other lyricists on the album
to shame, and outshine the mediocre music. The
explosive combination of these two amazing talents
really demands something a little more interesting
than this.

The same complaint I had for some of the Compost
stuff holds for this type of music. It's pleasant,
nicely relaxed, with a jazzy atmosphere, but there's
nothing that grabs me.
