    Artist Mini-Bio >> bird

And along with the series of bird News I just posted - on the
Sound*Lounge ml - here's just a short bio on the soul jazz singer:

bird's a Kyoto graduate born in 9 December 1975. She debut with "Souls"
in 1999 (March 20) on the RealEyes label, created and owned by Mondo
Grosso leader Osawa Shinichi. It was followed by the full studio album
release on July 23 on the same year. With the hit Toyata Celica TV-CF
song, "An Empty Pupil," the self-titled album goes on to sell 700,000
copies winning the Japanese Gold Disc Newcomer prize. She built a
reputation for excellent live shows with her tour in the Autumn, which
was all sold-out in one day.

Osawa Shinichi extended an invitation to bird to lending the vocals on
the 2000 Mondo Grosso single "Life," the Okinawa campaign CF song of All
Nippon Airways, which featured Izumi (of the TV drama Long Vacation) as
    spokesperson.

bird left the nest of the Real Eyes label, a Sony Music Entertainment
Japan sister branch, with the Tanaka Yoshito composed single "Flow," on
August 22 of 2001, and stepping forward as the new "melody maker." It
became the "insertion" song for the national CX system drama 'Lifesaving
    Ward 24:00."

In August 2001, bird attends the 'Rock in Japan FES. 2001' as performer,
and follows up with participation in 'J-WAVE LIVE 2000+1.' On November
17, a series of bird's poetry and photographs were published in Barfout
    magazine.

And now she's set to release her 3rd album on March 6. I've already
mentioned the many special guests on the new album, along with a SACD
version of the release, and the 1st printing special in previous News
    posts.
