i think it's a bit naive to think that the mailing list will be flooded with
newbies ("oh good, an acidjazz group--think i'll post about alannis like
i've wanted to for years"). i also think a newsgroup can help to alleviate
some of the newbie headaches we've had (sub/unsub, what're good starter
records, where're the good clubs) through FAQ's.
i love acidjazz and some related music. i want to support the artists
involved. i want them to sell enough records so that they can continue to
make their art without going broke and homeless. i'm all for spreading the
word as much as possible. i think it's greedy to horde the music and keep it
on the down low.
please understand that i'm one who likes to whine about unsub (and jungle,
but i can deal) bandwaste. i just think it'll be good for the music.
