I don't know, sending the message:
"sub yourname@blah.blah acid-jazz"
to:
Listserve@UCSD.EDU
just doesn't seem that hard to me.

I don't see all that much difference between an e-mail list and a newsgroup
other than that subscribing to one means typing an e-mail message and
subscribing to the other the click of a menu bar. Maybe I'd feel
differently if I was using AOL or if I didn't have e-mail and newsreader
software on my PC.

Is posting to a newsgroup really that much easier?

I will say that the AJ list has a cozy feel compared to many newsgroups...a
feel that I like. However, maybe that is due to the nature of the subject
and not completely due to WHO is on the list.

All I'm saying is that I don't think it can be assumed that the list will
necessarily lose its positive attributes if there is a newsgroup.

Maybe I just don't understand the problem.
