Nup.  At least, not in my books.  I would even go as far to say that AJ is
part of the hip-hop family along with rap and (here we go!) trip-hop.

Precisely.  IMO AJ and hip-hop are both at a point now where there is a
large ammount of borrowing going on from both styles.  You cannot have a
love for one without at least enjoying the other.  Discovering one leads to
the eventual discovery of the other (in my books at least!)  For me, I got
into hip-hop which eventually led me to acid-jazz.  This is not to say I'm
buying any less hip-hop.  It's just that now you might get a track by
Krush, Shadow, Tricky, etc. thrown into the mix!  (In other words, things
just got more expensive!  Boo-hoo!)
