It's been a while since I've done this, hasn't it? :)

First, I found the "Smoocher" compilation from Big Cheese records
and I've been listening to it CONSTANTLY. Lovely, slow groove,
soulful tracks from the 70s. The A1 track, the female vocal remake
of Barry White's "I'm Gonna Love Just A Little Bit More" by Kellee
Patterson is delicious!

Luke Vibert, "A Polished Solid", electro-influenced, steady-beat,
future jazz three-track single. Righteous.

Flora Purim, "What You See", remixed by A Guy Called Gerald and
Attica Blues. The "Ghost of Flora's Dream" mix by AGCG is a
jungle-flavoured reworking that works tremendously well. And
Attica Blues, well it's Attica Blues and you can't argue with
that. :) Simple, spartan mix, Attica Blues slow-tempo style.

Statik, "Revolutionary Pilot" e.p. off Cup Of Tea. Side A, dub
(dare I say trip hop?) styles galore. B1 is more uptempo but
B2 slows us down again. Nice offering in a familiar but nothing
new sort of way.

Ninja Toolz presents "Trumpet Riffs" by Raphael Corderdos. The
title says it all: trumpet sounds that are great for sampling.
The cover says "free sample clearance" but I haven't read the
details in the back to see what this means.

Silent Poets, "Drawing" e.p. Yes, yes, a month-old already and
Jonathan already talked about it, but I'd like to add that the
Poets are among the scene's best right now. They can do no wrong,
at least for me. :)

And the Excursions, well you've heard about them already... :)

Oh, one more thing. My girlfriend brought me plenty of old
jazz dance vinyl from Greece. Amongst the many records, she
brought me the whole Jazz Juice series and I must admit that
I had severley underestimated these comps. Seek and purchase!

Jazz On,
Alexees.
