Last week I received this little mail and thought it might be interesting
to write something about the Wizards of Ooze (The Belgian pride in AJ)

The wizards of Ooze are considered to be the Belgian Acid Jazz pioneers
and has its roots in our beloved city Antwerp. Their debute album "The
Dipster" is released in Italy, Sweden, Denmark and Norway so I'm not
surprised that most people on the list never heard of them. Their label
is Backbone Records and the album is recorded in their own Wizards of
Ooze studio.
They're first single "The bone" is on the compilation "TOTALLY WIRED 10".
SO CHECK THIS OUT.
I named their style "pure AJ" because all the musicians have JAZZ-roots
and there is no fusion with hip-hip, funk, latin ...
Some US record companies have shown great interest in the Wizards. Now
they have a deal with the RCA label GrooveTown (The label of Maceo
Parker, Brooklyn Funk Essentials, Roy Ayers, Steve Coleman .....)
You can allways go to www.ping.be if you're interested in their homepage.
Right now the Wizards are recording their second album so keep your eyes
open.
If you know them let me know what you think about them.
