Yeah, accapellas. I've been throwing down the Pharcyde's "Drop"=20
insrumental with the "Runnin'" lyrics. People don't really seem to notice=
=20
that one, though (s'all the Pharcyde, man!). My favorite accapella,=20
though, is the old-ass BNH single Dream Come True. I got a copy that's=20
got N'dea accapella, and I drop this over the last track on side one on=20
Olatunji's (I think this is the name) "Drums of Passion". It's dope b/c=20
the drums are really stripped down African drums with the an=20
inspirational chant. Then you just kind of start scratching in N'dea to=20
the rhythm, adding to the drum parts, then drop the "YOOOUUUU, DON'T HAVE=
=20
TO PROVE YOUR LOVE. . . " Kinda fresh.=20
=09Yo, who messes with doubles? I've been fooling with them for=20
awhile, not backspinning so much (a little) but more reconmstructing the=20
tune by juxtaposing the 2 tunes at different intervals. Y'know, like drop=
=20
the snares a quarter not apart, then an eighth note, then make the snare=20
"disappear" altogether, then drop the two together at the 8th note=20
interval (gives the track a dope, double-time swing feel). What else with=
=20
the doubles? Who's on it, let me hear ya say "hooooooooo!".
=09Anyways, I'm out to North Carolina in 5 minutes, so hope all you=20
cats have a good Christmas. I'll b back in '96. Peace-
