Improvisation

I compared a few of the 1995 polls with a friend's CD collection and
one of the matches was Wagon Christ "Throbbing Pouch", which I
borrowed. What I found is an ideal CD for practicing improvisation.
The rhythms are suggestive with a lot of potential energy to tap into,
the chord progressions are open to many interpretations and the
foreground is sparse leaving a lot of room to move around.
I'm about to commit a sin now, especially in light of my appeal for
soul, but the CD isn't with me so I have to refer to a song by ...
it's number. Very unappealing. So far I've had the most fun playing
along with song 10. Several scales work well over it and there's a
subtle mood shift which I have fun exaggerating.
If you're looking to practice some on-the-spot composition but don't
have a band handy, rent these folks out and see if they inspire you.
