I can definitely agree with the woman's opinion rather than Greg's (then, when
have I ever agreed with Greg :-) Just kidding, Greggy baby). I saw Pharoah
sevral times when he was living in the Bay Area (once with Zakir Hussein,
whoohoo!!!). Once when I saw him at Yoshi's, he was so right on and brilliant
when he played "Central Park West" (a signature Coltrane tune) that I,
literally, broke down and cried. It was an experience greater than any drug or
visit to church (I'm a Christian, incidentally). If you have a chance to see
Pharoah, don't miss out!!

I guess I should say the same for Pharoah Sanders, but I wasn't nearly as
focused, as drawn into the power as I was at the Harper concert. I think
it has something to do with timing, generation and specific pertinence.
Sanders was, as a woman near us said, "a holy experience". Harper was...
He WAS...He just WAS.
