Hey folks
Acid-jazz is slightly alive up here in seattle. Sunday night Alphabet
Soup played as part of our Earshot Jazz festival, and the crowd was
distinctly unimpressed. I thought AS really had their shit together, but
unfortunately most of the audience were 35+yrs and probably not really
ready for the AS style of rapping. Nobody danced and there was no energy
exchange between the band and the audience. The band was great, and I had
good time despite paying a hefty cover. And the irony of the evening
still has me chuckling.
But I want to ask, what is up with live acid-jazz in seattle??
I know alot of people who say they love AJ but never go to the shows, and I
remember when the Greyboy Allstars came up last aug, most of the audience
were frat-types who had been given free passes from Ride snowboards.
Seattle is very big on jazz and has a lot of young people who love good
music, and I would thiink that more folks would go to shows like these.
Discussion/opinions appreciated :)
