Yeah. It must be hard being a no name musician man. What you jealous that
you ain't got no success? Deal with it!!! So you have musical chops.
Cool. I can dig it. But don't lay all your bullshit on me. As someone who
is closer to you in terms of age, I think you should consider where you
are coming from in terms of 'new musics'. If you don't like acid jazz,
cool, I can understand that. If some of the acid jazz musicians don't
play like John Coltrane or Wayne Shorter or ben Webster or Johnny hodge
or Dizzy Gillespie, that's cool. They don't pretend to do that shit. But
don't waste my f###ing time with young musos can't cut it and the
bullshit about the good old days. That's crap!!!!!

Good music has never just been about musical technique. if it wass just
a case of technique I would listen to Return For Ever or to Frank Zappa
or to Larry Carlton or to Pat Metheny. If I want music that moves and
grooves me I listen to Earth, Wind and Fire, George Clinton, James
Brown, Gradmaster Flash, Eric B and Rakim, Public Enemy, Brand New
Heavies, Digable Planet, De La Soul because as well as musical technique
the motherfuckers can swing because they have rhythmn, soul and pizzazz
borne out of the Afro American experience. Mozart had technique but he
don't half move me as much as Ndea Davenport.

So get off you f***ing high horse, get off this list and stop wasting out
time. If you want to be a baby booming dead head that's cool, just don't
bore us with the details of your own neuroses. What is it that Sly Stone
samg? 'Different strokes for different folks'

over and out

Umm, have you been standing to close to your amp? Are you an indiot or
whaty? First, you have NO IDEA ghow many records I am on do you? AND you
dont know my age at all. I have never said. I have a few stage names I
use in my bass side and have a pretty big rep in many areas of music. I
have even made a living playing FUNK and JAZZ. I am living in my OOWN
HOUSE.... So, stop fucking around, and be real. If you dont think there
are problems with the way the scene is... fine. Id like to be on whatever
drugs you are on to make you think that way too.

hey, i dont want you to try to play like coltrane.. well, I can see how
you fucked that up as you didnt get anything I have said yet. I dig
Clinton too. Used to see him when he worked at the oakland C.
So, if you want to listen yopt technique youd rather listen to Larry
Carlton???? boy you must really be a boring person.
Yu dont hear any music in return to forever... i feel sorry for you..

tDo you listen to any music at all except the shit that moves and grooves
you? Cant you open up a little bit? Must musicians be so narrow and miss
out on all the wonders of musical expression, which acid-jazz (sheesh) is
just ONE SMALL PART.
Digable Planets?? You dissapoint me sir. You are putting them in the same
leeague as Clinton?
I see i must do more to spread the word....

My new suggestion is, Try to buy one of Glem Goulds videos. ($27.00 at
tower) Sony bought up everything he did, so its there. NOT THE movie
about him.. Maybe he can get through a bit more. he was a great educator,
I am only a small one. And, yes, i am usually out there fighting for
Bassists everywhere, as they are the low ones usually on the musical
pole. they neveer needed to learn anything about music in order to play.
Some time, roots 5ths, do what the guitarists tell them, etc well you
know what im talking aqbout.. I am trying to change that. Glen G. was
trying to educate the world abiout music in every aspect..

see, thats my lecture for today.. Not too bad... we can all learn from
everyone..

Peace on you
