Simon,
I would have to agree that there are a lot of bad easy listening tracks, but
hell there are a lot of bad jungle records, a lot bad soul records and a lot
of bad (or just plain boring and repetitive) trip hop/headz tracks. I'll
stick by my guns and listen to Get Easy vol. 1 CD or the new excellent Shots
In The Dark-Henry Mancini tribute album anyday. FYI:the Shots In the Dark CD
is really worth picking up with some cool cool covers by indie rock bands
such as Friends of Dean Martinez, Man or Astroman, etc etc Also be on the
lookout for the next Gente People single "Emotion Heater" super lounge
music--with a Luke Vibert remix for those who think I'm going off-topic.

Another record I'd like to mention, though it's not eazy, is the Workshy
album, POST, out on Pony Canyon. I love this record! It includes all their
Delancey Street and Cowboy singles and is the same vein (though better) as
that Swing Out Sister album produced by Ray (Opaz) Hayden (who also produces
some of POST) or a smoother, more lush, Izit. Guest musos include Yada Yada
mainmen Mick Talbot and Chris Bangs and Galliano's Crispin Taylor and bassit
Camelle Hinds. The new single Pieces of Mind, which is a non-LP cut, also
features a cool Electric Triangle remix, though I like the band's own remix
better. Definitely one to look out for (assuming you like that smooth, vocal
styled acid jazz).
