I think I know why you were shocked at my including Sergio Mendes on the list.
I've searched out other records by him and they all sucked.....but the Brasil 66
record is just tooooo good. Speaking of Brazilian music, anybody know much about
Gilberto Gil and (more importantly) Jorge Bem? Heard Jorge Bem on a David Byrne
comp a few years back..... and I'm certain he wrote Mais Que Nada (classic!!!).
