Despite the name of the label, the record company actually offers some of
the most diverse types of music of an acid-jazz specialized genre record
company...You have Mother Earth (rock), Emperor's New Clothes (Trip-Hop),
Snowboy (Latin Jazz/Mambo), Ulf Sandberg (Traditional jazz), in addition to
the JTQs, BNHs and the rest of the artists that make up the label. I also
heard that AJ will also (has also?) created a subsidiary called Acid Jazz
Roots, which specializes in reggae, dancehall and dub music.

There must be a thousand bands called "Mother Earth" on the planet earth.
(Hey, there were more than one "Wham"s, "Nirvana"s, "Wax"s and
"Charlattans").
The biggest other "Mother Earth" one I know of is an all-female alternative
band out of San Francisco. Haven't heard of any lawsuits yet, but Simon may
very well be a big fan of "Mother Earth UK" in a couple years... :)

Mother Earth has their own keyboardist, Bryn Barklam, who grinds up the
Leslies. But JT and other fellow Acid Jazz employees like Simon
Bartholomew and Snowboy have also guested on their albums.
Hey, there's a band from here in the Los Angeles area called West Coast
Harem that has a lot of the Mother Earth/Corduroy kinda vibe. They sound
pretty cool.
BTW, anyone noticed the similarity of the covers of "The People Tree" and
the Poets of Rhythm's first album?
