Seasons greetings everyone,

Thought i would add my thoughts ona couple of current threads.

I also picked up the dj mag issue, wall of sound definitely got some good
press! Of the stuff I have managed to pick up I really loved the Akasha
release "Spanish Fly" and the Propellerheads "Take California". Spanish
Fly is a moody atmospheric piece and the cd single has a "trip hop" remix
with a classic beat. Take California is fantastic. Definitely for the
dancefloor. There are also a couple of other tracks on the single worth
listening to. I listened to the Dirty Beatniks release and found it a
little boring - maybe my mood at the time but I didn't buy it.

The Steppin' Stone release of Marden Hill "Hijacked" is something I've
been meaning to post a comment about. It's steaming funky acid jazz! I
love it. The best I have heard in ages. Ashley Beedle gets a credit on a
couple of tracks which are great as are the rest. I don't think there's a
weak track on the whole release. I don't have my copy of it any more as a
friend liked it so much I handed it over as an impromptu christmas gift!
I'll definitely be getting another copy.

In a similar vein is the grand central release "Central Heating". I'm not
sure why they had to choose this name, but there are two cd's of funky
acid jazz and hip-hop with some lyrics. Each time I listen to this one
another track catches my attention - worth looking out for.

As for drum and bass with vocals, the best I have heard is the e-z rollers
song on the "Storm from the East" release called "This Land" or somehting
like that. Really strong female vocals that stand on their own (not just
talking over the breaks). Is there anything like this onthe e-z rollers
full length??

see ya
