Drum and bass/jungle is about as heavy as it gets when it comes to
percussion. I stumbled across this super nice tribal/drum mix though at
the studio last week. On one of St. Germain's EP they have this drum jam,
kind of housey, but really dope. I mixed it with this Paul Humphrey
track, this drummer from the 70s, another just raw tribal rhythm jam. On
that track he tuned his drums so he's playing a very prominent melody, and
repeats it throughout the song. I wish I could be more specific on the
titles, but I always forget that shit. One other, Up Bustle and Out have
this EP thats been out on Ninja Tune for awhile. You might still be able
to find it. Again, just a raw, drum-heavy jam that will always get people
moving. Sounds really nice when you want to give a track a little more
kick.
