Galliano's strength for me has always been their lyrical message
combined with the consistently strong music. Rob's rapping did weaken
some of their songs in the past, but more recently he's been letting
down the hip hop edge and moving into a more funked out vocal sound
like gil scott heron or mother earth. it sounds great to me. The band
as a whole is a band which always seems to grow in each release--I
just picked up their new 12" and am eagerly waiting for the full lp.
There is also a great aquasky remix.
And Valerie Etienne--her voice is getting smoother and smoother.
Delicious soul!

On a few other notes--thanks to those who sent me info about san
fransisco last week. the trip was great, bought too many records in
too few days. i got to check out 330 Ritch for JazidUp. respect to
the new chill lounge scene. and those hot pesto things were great!

Monday Michiru is playing on my cd player now. i wish i could find
her stuff on vinyl. her voice is magnificent. and the latin-nippon
sound is a musically superb and productive jazz fusion right now.
