Except for "pockets" of people, mainly in just a few cities, there just
isn't enough interest for the music--or for the musicians who play this
music, for that matter. Try living in Gainesville, Florida, where, despite
the university "cosmopolitan" atmosphere, not much is happening. And I
know it's worse in many other areas. Either we go live where it's
happening or we do battle with all the diverse, yet uninspired, American
music scene. In other words, it's stay and find that little pocket of
comfort, or stay and fight everyone else, or stay and suffer, or go where
it's happening. At least we have those options. If it wasn't for this
list, I'd sink in the quicksand of music mediocrity.
