I would have to agree with you on those two. Why is it that all the stuff
I've bought domestic US on Hollywood Records/Acid-Jazz has been a big fat
disappointment?
Here's a brief rundown of my disappointments:
Brand New Heavies--ORiginal Flava--
this sucked. Their drummer can't sing. I _Love_ N'dea Davenport's voice,
and it didn't appear anywhere on this album. Their other stuff IMHO is
really good.
Corduroy--Out of Here--
this was okay, but it didn't impress me like High Havoc. Maybe two good
tracks on there.
Vibraphonic 2.
this sucked. The first track was okay, but i think it was a cover.
MOther Earth--The people tree--
Jesse is a cool song. I didn't like the rest of the album.
enough complaining, here's some positive vibes on something I picked up
recently: (I know I'm way behind here)
Give Em Enough Dope Vol. 2
What can I say? this record really opened me up to some new sounds that
I've been searching for. I heard alot of stuff about some of the artists
on this compilation, and now I see why.
Great Fender Rhodes sounds throuthout!
track listing:
1 dj food "consciousness" great track
2 Kruder & Dorfmeister "Young Men"
3 Hustlers of Culture "Herbs & Spices" funky guitar!
4 PRessure Drop "Up against the wall"
5 T-Power vs. MK ultra " Horny Mutant Jazz" a little drum&bass-ish
6 Akasha "Mescaun"
7 Larry Heard "A question of time" Way off time! is it 11/8? 15/8?
8 Howie B. "Birth
9 Mekon "Last Breath" (Electro Re-Skank)
10Portishead "Sour Times" (Lot more Mix)
11Soundscape "The Journey Within" (pre-emptive dub) RHODES!
12Freakpower in Dub "My heart Sings"
