Did anyone mention the Fred Wesley and the horny horns albums.
I listened to Blow By Blow Backwards last night, its funkier than I remember.

Most excellent, great to use to improvise to (well try to in my case), very
simple but so effective, maceo by hero.

Even the second to last track, the grooving bass, slow sexy sax and
mutted trumpet, 5 minuted 29 seconds of heaven. Its like the girl next door
who stole your heart when to was 10 and has never given it back.

Totally agree, but are there any bad albums involving Maceo, Fred Wesley and
Pee Wee Ellis, I haven't found one, yet (and don't think I will)!
