If any of you missed out on Kraftwerk (god hope you havent) check them
out.... they never stop to amaze me, one always finds some new
angels in theire songs, no matter how simplistic they might be...

Hello people.
Too flipping right, Marten and Derek! But don't you forget about CAN,
who were also top fantastic pre-modern dance music dance music-type
people from Germany (and America and Japan). Check out their groovy
albums like Tago Mago and Ege Bamyesi if you haven't already - you
will find your feet a-tapping and your hips a-swaying to those
repetitive beats - and you will also find that each song lasts for
at least three days and only has about one note in it. I think
they are also probably the only band in the world whose bass
player wore gloves...erm, while he was playing the bass that is; I'm
sure that quite a lot of other bass players have actually worn gloves
at some point in their lives - for example in cold weather or when
they were children.
Sorry if someone's already mentioned Can, this is the first day
I've been on this list, so didn't get the start of the discussion.
And by the way...if there's any London dwellers out there who are
still reading this rubbish, me and two of me mates are starting a
new night on Wednesday the 23rd of October (ie. today/tomorrow,
depending when you're looking at this) - it's at a bar-type place
called The Islington at 342 Caledonian Road, N1; it's free to get
in and lasts from 8.30 - midnight. We're calling it MONKEYDELICA,
and will be playing whatever we feel like playing, as long as it's
got a groove to it - sixties soul, 70s funky stuff, disco, hip hop,
swingy thingys, house etc etc etc - this isn't an advert, honest,
it's just public information as to where you can hopefully have a
cool time and not have to pay to get in.
That's it for now.
Glad tidings,
Patrick
