Heard 2 tracks on the radio last night which I thought were amazing. And, of
course, there were no announcements on the radio as to who or what it was.
So, I have very little to describe it but, here goes (lots of labels).
I immediately thought of Portishead, but this band were still very different
to Portishead, though it was a definate 'Bristol sound'. It seemed to me to
be a bit lighter than either Portishead or Massive Attack. But the vocals
are the highlight and *very* destinctive - a sort of jazz style, female
vocal, with a decent helping of effects, very much to the front of the mix,
and continuous through most of the songs. Powerful.
The only words I remember was her singing a lot of lines where the first 2
words were 'What if......' And the 'what' was sort of whined.
Also, the radio show I was listening to was the sound from a TV film-clip
show that was being telecast at the same time, so that means the group have
a least 2 film clips. And, also the show played 3 Portishead clips straight
after, so I'd say they had a little 'Bristol' theme to their playlist.
Help, please - I neeed to know this!! Also, if you're in Australia - they
were on Rage (& JJJ) at 2.45 on Sunday morning.
