More e-z evangelism! (new acquisitions)

Hey List!
Just been down my local vinyl vendors and come home with (amongst
others) a copy of the e-zroller's '25 Alpha'. This tune is an essential
purchase, just to see that the 'rollers aren't just about flute samples.
Sleeve notes say 'e-z rolled for a hardstep moover' (their
spelling), and that just about explains it. If you can imagine a hardstep
drum pattern and then double up all the snares, you've got the idea.
Basically, it feels like the track's moving along at a cracking pace, but
the laid-back vibe of their other stuff is still there. Its great listening,
and the wierd spoken samples (sounds like a woman saying '25 alpha' over an
army radio) add to the effect. It doesn't really fit in with many other
records, so not a tune to play out, but then music isn't _just_ meant to be
dj'd, is it!
Verdict: A refreshing change.

Oh, and I finally found the double 12" of 'Brown Paper Bag',
everyone else was right, the photek rmx is fantastic, but so is the Takemura
mix. Worth the price just to hear that mad and twisted drum loop that kicks
in about half way through.

Also, go out and buy 'Blueprint, the definitive Moving Shadow album'
for a taste of the label's current output. 'Storm from the East' is also a
pretty good intelligent compilation.

Right, I'm off down the shops on a mission to get Camel Bobsled
Race, after rave reviews by a mate.
Any Brits here might also be interested in this Saturday at Cream
(Liverpool), I know its the biggest house club in England, but for once they
are expanding their music and allowing James Lavelle (Mo Wax boss) and the
psychonauts in. A mate went to the last Mo Wax night there and said it was
fantastic, so I'll think I'll go along. Anything to say about the
Psychonauts anyone? I've not heard _any_ of their music, so info is
appreciated! TIA.

Stay cool,
